From “Oluchi” to “Wait” to his hit song “One in a million” which got him recognition in and across Africa, Joshua Iniyezo who hails from Delta state and is popularly know by his stage name Solidstar gave us beautiful songs that made us see him as a rising star.
We even got more thrilled when he won the NVMA (Nigeria Music Video Award) Best New Artiste award in 2010 and also got nominated for a Headies Award in 2015.
Solidstar who has four(4) studio albums to his name started his music career as a drummer for a local church in his hometown until he was officially signed to Achievas Entertainment in 2010 after discovering him at a music talent show.
He continued to amaze his fans and Nigerians with his talent and good collaborations like the “Wait Refix” featuring Davido, Tiwa savage and Patoranking. This song got him the “Best Collabo of the Year Award” at the City People Entertainment Awards.
The “Wait” crooner however parted ways with Achievas Records in 2018 and then set up his own record label – Shaba Entertainment. Though he has been active in the music scene with songs like Bana, Yarinya, Ala, Allahu and others; we no longer feel the spark and vibe of the Solidstar we used to know.
Is our star beginning to fade out and why?
Did he make a mistake by leaving his former label?
This situation is however not only peculiar to Solidstar. Most musicians find it difficult to remain in the limelight after exiting their record labels; only a few have continued to maintain strong presence in the industry after such exits.
It is really a serious issue that needs to be given thoughts to.
